| Calendar Contest 2007-2008 |

The contest is open to students in grades K-6. Student's original artwork should feature Oregon Agriculture. Students are encouraged to use a lot of creativity and color. $50 savings bonds will be awarded to the 13 students whose artwork is selected for the 2008-09 calendar.

Calendar Contest Winners Announced
More than 2,100 students from 29 counties submitted artwork for the 2008-2009 calendar contest. The winners have been selected and their names are posted on our website. A reception is scheduled for Sunday, August 24 at the Oregon State Fair to celebrate the students’ featured in the new calendar. Join us as we celebrate with the students, their families and their teachers that are highlighted in the new 2008-2009 calendar. A display will be in the Jackman-Long building during the Oregon State Fair with the new calendar and honorable mention artwork on display.

Plan to join us on October 18, 2008 for the Fall Harvest Dinner.
More than 350 people attended the 2007 Fall Harvest Dinner. Over $48,000 was raised for the program and 600 Get Oregonized books were purchased for Oregon classrooms. The Get Oregonized books were updated this year and reprinted in October. |

| AITC 2008 Literacy Event |

The first annual literacy event was a rousing success! Volunteers read to 7,316 elementary students across the state. Thanks to the Oregon Association of Nurseries and the Agri-Business Council of Oregon for sponsoring the event. Volunteers that read to classrooms include FFA high school students, Oregon Women for Agriculture members, 4-H Ambassadors, Collegiate 4-H and agricultural producers.

Congratulations to the Bend, Perrydale and Henley FFA chapters. They received the top awards for the FFA Agricultural Youth Awareness Awards during the State FFA Convention held in Pendleton. |
